Saving people from melanoma
one patient at a time
An Introduction for Physicians
MoleMapCD technology is the first, comprehensive baseline system for melanoma that combines total body photography and speed-optimized, easy-to-navigate software. It was developed by DigitalDerm, Inc., in conjunction with the Duke University Comprehensive Cancer Center, and has been used successfully by dermatologists and their at-risk melanoma patients for more than a decade.
MoleMapCD contains 36 high-resolution images of a patient’s skin from head to toe, which are used as a basis of comparison when troubling lesions are found. Instead of focusing on a single mole, it provides a total record of a patient's skin. Speed-optimized viewing software, which runs on any personal computer with a Windows 98SE or above operating system, does provide the ability to zoom in on a specific body part or mole.
There is no cost for you to incorporate MoleMapCD into your practice. You do not have to dedicate the time, staff or space to take photos. DigitalDerm’s network of credentialed, medical photographers acquire the images in a secure and controlled environment. DigitalDerm formats the images into a standardized record on CD-ROM and sends the finished product to your practice. All you need do is write the referral.
MoleMapCD technology is not a replacement for your visual exams. It is a tool that you use as a complement to visual exams, and one that your patients can use for comparison during skin self-exams between office visits.
